We are recruiting for a high-growth technology company building scalable digital infrastructure for the future of mobility in Africa.

Industry: Technology / Mobility / Energy Infrastructure
Location: Nairobi (Hybrid)
Experience Level: Senior (7+ years)

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will work closely with the CTO to translate technical vision into scalable, production-ready systems. You will architect, build, and lead a high-performing engineering team while driving execution at speed.

What You’ll Do

  • Own engineering execution from planning through production
  • Co-design and scale backend, IoT, and data systems
  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering team
  • Implement AI-driven development workflows and automation
  • Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability across multiple cities

What You Bring

  • 7+ years building and scaling production systems (Java/Spring Boot preferred)
  • Strong system design and cloud experience (AWS)
  • Hands-on coding experience (not purely managerial)
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment 

Nice to Have

  • Flutter or mobile app development
  • IoT systems or telemetry platforms
  • Fintech / payments systems
  • Experience working in African markets  

Success Metrics

  • 0–3 months: Stabilize systems and deliver key improvements
  • 3–6 months: Scale to ~10,000 users and build core team
  • 6–12 months: Scale systems to 50,000–100,000 users across cities 

Compensation

  • KES 120,000 – 250,000/month (negotiable based on experience)
